Sports Stars Who Embrace the DIY Spirit

In the world of professional sports, where competition is fierce, and the spotlight is always boring into the souls of those at the top of the game, it might be surprising to learn that some sports stars find solace and satisfaction in the art of (DIY) projects. Beyond the arenas and pitches, these athletes like to channel their competitive – and creative spirit into developing, building, and fixing things with their own hands.

But who are they? Let’s look at those sports stars who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and tackle a DIY project.

David Beckham: Kicking It with Carpentry

Renowned as a football legend, David Beckham, the former England captain and Manchester United star, has showcased another passion. His passion for woodworking. He may not make it to the top of today’s football odds, but he makes it to the top of our DIY list!

Where he used to be famous for creating seriously impressive free kicks, he now spends his free time creating bespoke wooden furniture. Carpentry allows him to unwind from the pressures of his very stressful life when the idea of the next yacht getaway all becomes too much – and tap into his creative side.

Serena Williams: A Crafter Off the Court

Then we have tennis icon Serena Williams, who has been a dominant force on the court and a creative soul in DIY crafts. She has even shared glimpses of her artistic endeavors, including making beaded jewelry and creating custom clothing.

She often engages in these projects as a way to relax and express her artistic style when she’s not hitting the tennis court.

J.J. Watt: Tackling DIY at Home

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt isn’t just a force to be reckoned with on the football field; he’s also a hands-on DIY enthusiast. Watt has been spotted testing himself with various home improvement projects – including woodworking and even assembling furniture.

His commitment to testing himself extends beyond the sports arena, showcasing his talents in a different field.

LeBron James: Slam Dunking DIY

Next on our list is another sporting legend – basketball icon LeBron James, often referred to as “King James,.” This giant of the basketball court isn’t just a powerhouse on the basketball court; he also enjoys engaging in DIY projects.

James is a very hands-on individual in home improvement, from building custom bikes to assembling furniture.

Living by the mantra ‘if you want something done properly, do it yourself,’ his off-court DIY pursuits reflect his dedication to excellence in all aspects of life.

Lewis Hamilton: Racing to DIY Success

Formula 1 racing champion Lewis Hamilton might need speed on the track, but when he isn’t zooming around the racetrack, he allegedly likes to channel any spare energy he has into unique DIY projects.

Hamilton, who is a huge advocate for sustainability, has been involved in DIY outside the house… preferring to design and customise electric vehicles. His commitment to eco-friendly DIY showcases his passion for innovation and the planet.

Tom Brady: A Touchdown in the Workshop

Considered by many to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in American football history, Tom Brady is an incredible talent on the field and a pretty impressive hands-on craftsman. Brady has shared his love for woodworking and is often known to engage in DIY projects, creating custom pieces of furniture.

His perfectionist approach to football carries over to his attention to detail in the workshop.

Conclusion

Who doesn’t like a project? Apparently, getting our hands dirty appeals to all sorts of people – even those rich, famous sporting stars. Whether it’s woodworking, crafting, or home improvement, these big-name players all find relaxation and a sense of accomplishment in DIY projects.
